Privacy policy

termstow is a classified directory operated for UK university students. For GDPR purposes, termstow is the data controller for personal data you provide when using the platform.

We collect your name and .ac.uk email address to create your account and verify university enrolment. Our lawful basis for this processing is the performance of our contract with you to provide the directory service.

We collect optional details (phone number, Instagram handle, TikTok handle) if you choose to provide them for your listing profile. Our lawful basis for this is your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time by removing these details from your profile.

We record coarse location data (neighbourhood or landmark level, never your exact flat address) for listings to enable distance-based search.

We use your data to operate the directory: to display your listing to other verified students, to facilitate messages between storers and hosts, and to manage your account. We do not sell your data to third parties, and we do not use your data for advertising profiling.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time — see 'Your rights' below.

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data; to object to processing; and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, or to delete your account, visit your profile settings. We will action deletion requests within 30 days.

You also have the statutory right to lodge a complaint regarding our data practices with the UK supervisory authority, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.

We use a single strictly-necessary session cookie for authentication (Supabase Auth). No marketing cookies, no third-party trackers, no cookie consent banner required.
